The story

It started as a rescue mission. Marina’s mom’s signature recipes lived in notebooks, screenshots, notes and texts — a perfectly good filing system right up until the day Marina wanted to make her mom’s delicious crepes and couldn’t find the recipe anywhere on her phone. So she built them a home, and made it easy enough that her mom would actually use it: take a photo of a handwritten recipe, and it comes back typed, saved and searchable.

Marina doesn’t write code. She hired exactly one engineer — an AI. She designed every screen, decided every word, made every call; it did the typing. No team, no funding, no computer science degree. Palo Alto spent decades being the place where this took a garage and a co-founder. It now takes a laptop and a lot of opinions.

What it does

• Menu — the family plans each day’s meals, with a separate kids’ menu, and any day prints as a menu card for the fridge.
• Recipes — the family’s own cookbook: paste a link, photograph a cookbook page or a handwritten card, or save a recipe straight from TikTok. Send any recipe to a friend with one link, or its ingredients to the shopping list in one tap.
• Shop — one live shopping list the whole household edits at the same time, sorted by supermarket aisle.
• Chef — an AI cook that knows the family’s tastes: ask what to make with what’s in the fridge — typed or out loud — or have it plan a whole week at once.
• Cooking — recipes go full screen, one step at a time, and the phone stays awake.
